The White Album by Joan Didion
Typesetting & Design
In this project we typeset, designed, and bound a book of our choosing. We worked with a long-form text and designed a readable, engaging, and navigable typographic interpretation of the text of our choosing in a printed publication. Through this process, we gained the ability to build typographic systems, hierarchies, composition, consistency, and rhythm that span across the publication, as well as typography’s relationship to the 3d space and materiality of the book object. I chose to typeset and design one of my favorite books, The White Album by Joan Didion.
The Peacock Chair:
The Photogenic Chair with a Unique History
Written, Designed, & Typeset
This book is intended to educate the reader about the history and cultural importance of the Peacock Chair. The book contains two smaller neon books, one of a furniture catalog and the other a portrait collection of influential people posed on peacock chairs. The typefaces used were Quezon by Kimchi Lee & Christine Less and Redaction by Jeremy Mickel & Forest Young. The book was made with paper, acetate, and thread.
